How to choose the right settings

This is a practical balance for ordinary photographs. Inspect faces, hair, foliage, gradients, and text before choosing a lower value.

Keep original dimensions

Conversion changes the encoding, not the pixel size. Use the WebP Resizer separately when dimensions also need to change.

Compare actual bytes

A WebP is not guaranteed to be smaller than every JPEG. Keep the new file only when its visual quality and measured size suit the destination.

Practical workflow and output details

JPG already uses lossy compression, so converting it again cannot restore detail removed by the original encoder. The selected quality controls the new WebP encode, not the source quality.

Browser canvas creates a fresh image stream. Orientation should be visually normalized by modern decoders, while EXIF, XMP, comments, and embedded color-profile data are intentionally not copied.
